I’m so excited to be a part of the two year anniversary blog tour for Simple Life Pattern Company. I also have a fun giveaway at the end so follow along! If you follow me here or on Instagram or Pinterest you know I always reach for an SLPco pattern first when planning my daughters’ wardrobes. It’s such a sweet pattern company with well drafted patterns and designs perfect for girls of all ages.
My preschooler has a wild imagination and forms the deepest friendships with her dolls and stuffed animals. Can you just imagine the stories she’s telling her doll Dana right now? Well I’ll let you in on her secret. She’s telling Dana all about her adventures with Larry and Bob from Veggietales! LOL Poor Dana is getting her ear talked off.

I was so excited when I heard that Becca joined the SLPco team and she was going to be making doll patterns. I’ve been planning to make matching dolly and me outfits for a while now but have been nervous to start. I wanted clothes that would look cute and stylish but wouldn’t take as long or longer than regular clothes. I feared that was too much to ask and I would end up with frumpy looking outfits for my daughter’s doll. Enter Dolly Ayda and Dolly Molly. Two doll patterns that are every bit as professional and sophisticated as their matching girl-sized dresses. I chose Ayda to start because Ayda is a notoriously quick sew and my 6 week post-partum self is shamelessly all about the quick sews right now.
The Dolly Ayda is a woven dress or top with a gathered or circle skirt, 5 sleeve options and the cross-over V-back with the modest option like Dana has. All the same as the Girl’s Ayda.  The only difference is the Dolly Ayda adds a snap placket for dressing. The Dolly pattern comes in 14″ and 18″ doll sizes. The 14″ is for the Wellie Wisher dolls. I just recently ordered these Soft Cactus dolls for my girls so here’s to hoping the 14″ fits them too. I’ll report back once they arrive and I give it a try.

SLPco also released knit tops for 3 of their most popular patterns so naturally Ayda has a knit sister now and that is what you see here. If you thought Ayda was a quick sew, Knit Ayda is even faster because you get to skip the top stitching! Woot Woot. Don’t believe me? Well I originally whipped up the dress length Ayda along with Dana’s dress in one evening (don’t forget I’m taking care of a baby in here too, who loves to cry during that tiny sewing window I have after the girls go to bed.) We were expecting warm weather the next day and I wanted to be able to take pictures outside. While in the process of making Dana’s dress I changed my mind and made her the top since we only have boots for her. But then I wanted my daughter to have the top version too instead of the dress (Baby brain in full swing here). So the next morning BEFORE going to my morning spin class I whipped up the top version. The result? Little sis got the dress and her lovie ended up with the scraps 🙂

Don’t forget ALL SLPco patterns are on sale right now. Pre-existing 40% off, New Releases 25%, Get the Look Kits 30% off (that’s a crazy good deal on Art Gallery fabric.) And then on top of that, tiered pricing is also available, see graphic above. Go big or go home!
